Here are some links to knitting and crochet sites, where you can buy materials to make TikkunTree leaves, and websites that you can refer to for information about the continued hostilities between Jews and Palestinians, and the many efforts to develop positive relationships upon which to build a peaceful resolution of the conflicts.
Peace Fleece worsted wools would be a terrific material for this project. The company has, since its inception, been committed to helping historic enemies cooperate and prosper through trade. Peace Fleece now offers knitting yarns made from a blend of Palestinian, Israeli, Russian, Romanian and American wools! All proceeds from PF’s Baghdad Blue” wool benefit two remarkable Jewish-Palestinian projects: Neve Shalom/Wahat al-Salam (a bi-national community near Tel Aviv), and the Seeds of Peace youth program (bringing Israeli Jewish and Palestinian youth together in summer camp experiences). To show support for these and other cooperative projects for Israeli Jews and Palestinians, any and all aspect of this TikkunTree Project (leaves, doves, candles) can be made using PF’s Baghdad Blue yarn. You are more than welcome to use other Peace Fleece wools as well - greens for the leaves, white for the doves or candles. Think peace, knit with peace-producing yarns!
To obtain Peace Fleece yarn in Baghdad Blue, white, or any of their kaleidoscope of greens and grays, check HERE.

This looks like the best site to buy the yarn. Joann doesn’t seem to offer cherry red online, but might be less expensive in their store if you can find it.
It is possible to hope for an end to the hostilities, when one takes a look at the many examples of peace-building between Israeli Jews and Palestinians taking place every day. You might check:

How about knitters in Israel? Are there Palestinian women working on this project, too? And what about using Soul Wool? Last I heard, it was being spun by Bedouin women, but that may have changed… And why don’t you talk to knitting groups in Israel? The Gourmet Yarn Shop, in Raánana?
I think we have what to talk about, Leslie!
Cheers,
Yael
Thanks for these wonderful suggestions, Yael! I’ve been developing contact with Israeli knitters through Ravelry to date, and working to find Palestinian/Arab/Muslim participants through the Jewish-Arab dialogue project I started here. If you have contacts in Israel/Palestine, please share them! Or better yet, put together a TikkunTree group yourself to expand the conversation and foliage for the tree. I look forward to knitting with you all!
